Lightspeed Sep 20 Progress Report
2026-09-20
Hello,
You may be wondering why there haven't been any Lightspeed releases in a few weeks, considering how quickly things were moving last I posted.
Yes, I'm still working on it. In fact, I'm now graduated (as of last Thursday), and progress is faster than ever before. It wouldn't be unreasonable to say my coding output has trippled since graduation - though I might be underestimating.
I have many (more) hours per day when I can basically just code, so expect big things from CalmComputers as we move into this next era!
When I post the next release, some of the goodies to look forward to include:
- Remote file servers, including sftp and google drive, are now supported via RClone. With the obvious downside that they might have a lot of lag if you use one that's far away from you, they work like local drives for most purposes - you can open a folder in the media player and it will work, you can open and save a remote file in the editor and it will propagate to the remote, etc.
- More improvements to the Terminal, including better support for TUI apps
- An improved Blindatro game thanks to recent SRUI innovations, which is much smoother in cinematic sound modes
- A new MUD client
- And more!
From here on out, updates will include a changelog. I think that would probably be helpful for everyone.
